About Ravi

📌 PLEASE READ FIRST To be considered for Ravi, a complete written adoption application must be submitted first. All approved adopters begin with a two-week trial and monitoring period to support a safe and thoughtful long-term match. Ravi is currently fostered in South Korea and will fly to JFK Airport with a flight volunteer once a suitable family is matched. If you live further east from JFK or cannot travel to pick him up, ground transport may be coordinated for approved adopters. 📝 Apply to Adopt https://forms.gle/UmpfbgmydH7igSdN7 📸 More Photos & Videos Google Album https://photos.app.goo.gl/N93t5f1sxtnpjeYv9 Foster Instagram https://www.instagram.com/bam_lavi?igsh=MWtnZzlzaTlka25qaA%3D%3D&utm_source=qr 💛 Adoption Fee: $650 Includes neuter surgery, vaccinations, microchip, veterinary exam, international health certificate and export documentation prepared by the rescue, and international transport. ✨ Quick Facts • Age: ~2–3 years (estimated) • Sex: Neutered Male • Weight: 6.2 kg (about 13.7 lbs) • Energy Level: Very Low (1/5) • Personality: Calm, gentle, observant • Suspected deafness (not formally diagnosed yet) ⚠️ Important: Ravi Likely Cannot Hear Ravi appears to be deaf or significantly hearing-impaired. Because of this, voice recall will not work for him. However, he has adapted beautifully by relying on visual cues and body language. He is very observant and attentive to the people around him. For his safety • secure harness and leash use is essential • off-leash environments are not recommended • predictable routines and visual communication help him feel confident 💛 Ravi’s Personality Ravi is a quiet and emotionally thoughtful dog who communicates beautifully in his own way. He is calm, observant, and slightly independent, but forms deep bonds with the people he trusts. Rather than demanding attention, he prefers to stay nearby and quietly share space with his person. Because Ravi likely cannot hear, he has developed a remarkable ability to read body language and visual cues. For example • When he needs to go outside → he barks to alert his foster mom • When he wants affection → he gently taps her hand with his nose • When he notices signs that his foster siblings are about to go for a walk → he goes to the door first and waits Recently he has begun following his foster mom around like Velcro. Although he cannot hear, he is extremely attentive and aware of his surroundings. 🩺 Health • Bilateral patellar luxation surgery completed • Currently recovering well and has resumed 30+ minute daily walks Other notes • Occasionally coughs lightly after drinking water (recently less frequent) • No known allergies Preventatives • NexGard Spectra given 2/21 (monthly) 🍽 Diet Food • Brit Fresh Duck kibble Favorite treats • meat treats • yak chews • goat horn chews He generally does not prefer fruits or vegetables. 👥 Socialization With People • Accepts gentle petting when approached calmly • May move away briefly if someone approaches suddenly • No major difference between men and women With Children Ravi has spent time calmly around a middle school-aged girl in his foster home and behaved gently and comfortably. Because he is sensitive to sudden movement and likely deaf, he would do best with older, respectful children who understand how to approach dogs calmly. With Dogs • Large dogs: may bark if approached too assertively • Medium dogs: neutral and coexists peacefully • Small dogs: generally indifferent He does not actively seek dog play. With Cats • Lives peacefully with a cat • Shows little to no interest 🏠 Home Life Ravi enjoys a quiet routine. He spends most of his day • resting in his crate • sleeping on a dog sofa • calmly observing the household At night he usually sleeps in his crate, though occasionally he sleeps on the bed. During surgical recovery he has been 100% indoor potty trained, but before surgery he was fully outdoor potty trained and still eliminates immediately when taken outside. 🚶 Walks Ravi loves walks. As soon as he sees the leash he waits by the door. On walks he • walks calmly without pulling • enjoys sniffing and exploring • proudly marks with both legs Because he cannot hear, he does not react to loud vehicles. 🚗 Car Rides • slightly unsettled for the first ~3 minutes • then lies down and rests • no motion sickness 🛁 Grooming • very calm during baths • extremely relaxed during drying (likely related to hearing loss) • tolerates grooming very well 🧸 Play & Enrichment Ravi has a very low play drive. He prefers • quiet companionship • chewing bones • relaxed walks He rarely plays with toys or other dogs. 🏡 Ideal Home Ravi would thrive in a home that offers • a calm and predictable environment • adults or older teenagers • gentle daily walks • an adopter comfortable caring for a deaf dog He is best suited for families who appreciate a quiet, emotionally connected companion. 🚫 Not the Best Fit • loud or chaotic households • homes with very young children • families expecting a highly playful or energetic dog • adopters uncomfortable managing leash safety 🛟 Adoption Safety Guidelines The safety of our dogs is our top priority. Newly adopted dogs are adjusting to a completely new environment, and even well-behaved dogs may become frightened or disoriented during the transition period. 📍 GPS Tracking Requirement (Non-Negotiable) All adopted dogs must wear a GPS tracker with an active subscription so their location can always be monitored. This provides an important safety layer in case a dog escapes while adjusting to a new home. Examples include • Fi Collar • Tractive GPS • or similar GPS tracking collars The GPS subscription must remain active for ongoing tracking. 💬 Foster’s Note “Ravi may not hear the world, but he understands everything through your eyes and body language. He knows when we’re going out, when it’s time to rest, and when it’s time for affection. Recently he’s been sticking close to me like glue. He’s quiet, gentle, and emotionally steady.”
