He came to us after his family made the incredibly difficult decision to surrender him when they were no longer able to give him the life he deserved. They loved him deeply and were heartbroken to let him go, and we promised them we would find him a home where he can continue to be cherished. Chip previously lived with another Goldendoodle, enjoyed visits to dog parks, and lived with small children, so he brings with him wonderful social skills and a strong foundation as a family companion. Now that he is in foster care, we are seeing just how special this big, joyful boy truly is. Daily Routine & Home Life Chip is an easygoing dog who happily follows the rhythm of the household. He currently lives with two resident dogs and naturally takes his cues from them. He free-feeds when he is hungry and enjoys spending his days either relaxing with his people or asking to hang out in the backyard when the family is home. He settles nicely into the home environment and enjoys being wherever the action is, whether that means lounging nearby while someone works at a desk or relaxing in the living room during family time. At night, Chip sleeps peacefully in his kennel without any fuss. Simply pointing to the kennel and saying “bedtime” in a cheerful voice sends him trotting right in, ready to settle down for the night. Personality — A Giant, Happy Love Bug Chip is best described as a big, affectionate, joyful dog whose tail seems to be in constant motion. If he is awake, he is usually wagging about something. He is deeply people-oriented and loves physical affection, frequently asking for hugs and snuggles in the most polite and endearing way. One of his signature moves is gently placing a paw on your leg and looking up at you as if to ask permission before climbing up for a cuddle. Once invited, he settles in happily beside you, soaking up the attention. He is a true snuggler but also understands personal space—after getting his cuddle fix, he will often move to the end of the bed or nearby spot to relax comfortably. He has excellent manners in the home. While he may be curious about what people are eating, he does not crowd the table or beg. If offered a treat, he takes it with remarkable gentleness. Chip is the kind of dog who naturally makes people smile. His warm, affectionate personality and calm, polite demeanor make him incredibly easy to live with. Dogs, Kids & Social Skills Chip is wonderfully social and has demonstrated excellent behavior with a variety of companions. He currently lives with a 45-pound Husky and a 20-pound Terrier and gets along beautifully with both. He previously spent time at dog parks and lived with another Goldendoodle, so he is comfortable around dogs of different sizes and personalities. Children, however, are truly his favorite people. He lives with two teenagers and greets them with pure joy every time they enter the room. The first time he met the foster family’s daughter, he behaved as if she were his long-lost best friend—and that enthusiasm continues every single day. His foster family often jokes that he must have been a teacher or nanny in a previous life because of how naturally he connects with kids. He thrives on their energy, affection, and companionship. Activity Level & Play Style Chip has a beautifully balanced energy level. He enjoys bursts of play throughout the day—typically in the morning after breakfast, again when the kids return home, and in the evening. He entertains himself by tossing stuffed toys into the air and running around proudly with them. He also loves interactive play and will happily join in on family fun. At the same time, he knows how to relax. When the household is calm, Chip settles right in and lounges comfortably nearby. One of the most heartwarming sights in his foster home is the nightly “cuddle party” he shares with the teenage son on the large dog bed. They roll around, toss toys, and end the evening with Chip sprawled on his back, soaking up belly rubs. Walking & Leash Skills Chip is excellent on leash and a pleasure to walk. He maintains a loose leash and stays right beside his person, even when walking alongside other dogs who may be more excitable. He is attentive, cooperative, and easy to handle. The only time he has pulled is when he is especially excited to greet someone he loves, which is completely understandable given his enthusiastic personality. House Training & Manners Chip is fully house trained and has demonstrated reliable potty habits in his foster home. He quickly communicates when he needs to go outside. He has shown excellent behavior indoors overall. He does not chew on inappropriate items, does not dig in the yard, and rarely barks. In fact, he has only barked in two specific situations: When the vacuum cleaner made an appearance During particularly fun play sessions What Makes Chip Special Chip truly embodies everything people hope for in a doodle companion. He is friendly, affectionate, playful, well-mannered, and deeply devoted to his family. He is equally happy joining in on activities or simply relaxing nearby. He is the kind of dog who naturally becomes the heart of the household. One funny example of his personality: when his foster dad was rubbing mom’s feet, Chip repeatedly inserted his nose between the hand and foot as if politely requesting his own turn. He has a wonderful sense of humor and an irresistible charm. It is hard to imagine a better family dog than Chip. He is gentle, joyful, and devoted, and he is ready to bring warmth, laughter, and endless cuddles to the lucky home that welcomes him next.
