This was a heartbreaking decision made out of deep love for him, and we have promised to find Blue a home where he can continue to thrive. He previously lived with another Goldendoodle, enjoyed regular visits to dog parks, and lived with small children, so he comes to us with a wonderful foundation as a family companion. Blue has a non-shedding coat and will require regular grooming to keep him looking and feeling his best. Beneath that fluffy exterior is a calm, steady, and deeply sweet dog who is as gentle as he is impressive in size. Daily Routine & Household Manners Blue is an easy dog to live with. He wakes up when his people wake up and sleeps peacefully through the night on his bed without any issues. He prefers to go to the bathroom in the backyard and then enjoys heading out for a walk afterward. He is fully house trained and has shown excellent manners in the home— he does not mark indoors and has been very reliable with his potty habits. Despite being tall enough to reach countertops, Blue has excellent self-control. He does not beg at the table, does not counter surf, and is not particularly food-focused. He will sit politely for meals and patiently wait until he is told it is okay to eat. He settles down very easily and is content to relax near his people. He enjoys being close to his family without being clingy or demanding. His calm demeanor makes him a very low-impact dog in the home, even with his large size. As his foster family affectionately says, he is an “indoor horse” — big, steady, and incredibly gentle. Training & Intelligence Blue is a very well-trained dog who clearly had a loving and structured upbringing. He knows several commands, including sit, stay, and paw, and responds reliably when asked. He demonstrates patience and good impulse control, especially around food and daily routines. He is also responsive on walks and listens well to direction. When he notices other dogs, he may show curiosity, but he responds to cues like “leave it” and is not difficult to manage. Exercise & Activity Level Blue would make an excellent companion for someone who enjoys regular exercise. He has long legs, a naturally brisk pace, and happily keeps up when you pick up the speed. He completed a four-mile walk with his foster without any difficulty and was a pleasure to handle the entire time. He is not a dog who needs to stop and sniff every few feet. Instead, he enjoys moving forward with purpose and would likely be a wonderful walking or running partner. Personality & Temperament Blue is best described as a gentle soul. His demeanor is consistently calm and composed, and he is not rambunctious or high-energy. He has a steady presence that makes him easy to live with and comforting to be around. He loves his people and seems to enjoy everyone in the household. He has not shown any signs of separation anxiety and handles alone time without stress. He is affectionate and loyal, staying close to his family while still being independent enough to relax on his own. Blue can be slightly cautious when meeting new people at first, but he warms up quickly. His foster family recently hosted a gathering with about twenty guests, and he handled the situation beautifully. He also serves as a decent watchdog and will alert the household to unfamiliar sounds, but he is not excessive about it. Play Style Blue is still figuring out how he likes to play with humans. Having spent much of his life playing with other dogs, he seems more accustomed to dog-style games like tag or keep-away. He may pick up a squeaky toy but does not necessarily engage in fetching or chewing. He truly shines when interacting with other dogs and would likely enjoy canine companionship again, though it is not required. The Future Blue deserves a home that will cherish him the way his previous family did—one that recognizes what a special dog he is. He is a big dog with an even bigger heart, and once you meet him, it is easy to understand why everyone who knows him falls in love.
