If we believe it may be a good match, we will reach out to schedule a phone interview, followed by a video call with the foster home. A virtual home visit, along with personal and veterinary reference checks, are required to complete the adoption process. Once approved, the dog will be placed on the next available transport, which runs every few weeks and is included in the adoption donation. If you are not able to welcome a dog until a later date, please wait to apply until that time. We are a volunteer-run rescue and donate our time to help these dogs find homes. This helps ensure we respect everyone’s time. ___ Pearlie is a 5-year-old, 50lb spayed female pittie mix with the most striking snowy coat, soulful eyes, and a heart that’s learning how to feel safe again. This beautiful, pointy-eared, short-stack girl has come a long way in a short time — once too scared to even come out of her kennel, she now trots out with growing confidence and is starting to show her affectionate, silly, and deeply loyal personality. She just needs a patient, understanding home to continue helping her blossom. Pearlie is being fostered in Austin, Texas and is available for adoption out-of-state. Transport can be arranged for approved adopters. Please note, our process starts with an application. Pearlie prefers to do her own thing around other dogs and isn’t much of a player, but she coexists well with dogs in the 50–80 lb range. She can be a bit socially unsure — sometimes ignoring or barking — especially during introductions, so slow, structured meet-and-greets are important. On leash, she may react similarly, though she’s still learning and improving every day. She doesn’t need another dog to be happy but could live with the right calm, respectful companion. She absolutely adores kids and has lived with children ranging from 3 to 18 years old. She’s loving, gentle, and happy to be part of the family — though she can get a little jumpy when excited, so supervision with smaller kiddos is recommended. Pearlie is fully house-trained and does great in a crate, typically sleeping quietly from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. She eats in her crate and feels most comfortable having her own space during mealtime and when enjoying treats. Leash walking is a work in progress. With consistency and patience, she’ll continue to improve and gain confidence out in the world. Her energy level is low to medium — she enjoys activity but doesn’t require a super high-energy home. She would do best in a calmer environment where she can continue to decompress and feel secure at her own pace. Pearlie is affectionate, curious, playful, and incredibly loving once she trusts you. She loves her stuffies and will happily entertain herself, but her favorite activity might just be giving kisses — she’s a certified “serial licker.” She bonds deeply with her people and thrives on that connection. When meeting strangers, Pearlie can be fearful — she may bark or avoid. This comes from her past, not her heart. She has likely experienced physical abuse, and while she has already made incredible progress, she will need time, patience, and a gentle approach to continue building trust. She’s also nervous in the car and a bit scared of the dark outside, but with support, she’s steadily gaining confidence. Pearlie’s ideal home is one that moves at her pace — calm, patient, and understanding of her journey. Someone who sees the beauty in a dog who needs a little extra time, and who will celebrate every small win along the way.
