Meet Freya! Freya is a beautiful 4-month-old mixed breed puppy who made the long journey all the way from Puerto Rico in search of the loving family she deserves. This tiny girl currently weighs about 7 pounds, and we expect her to be around 15–20 pounds full grown. She appears to be some kind of fluffy Chihuahua mix, though we can’t say for certain—what we do know is that she is absolutely adorable and completely unforgettable. Freya is also a very special little girl. She was born with a congenital birth defect that caused her front legs to develop shorter than normal. But don’t let that fool you—Freya doesn’t let anything slow her down! She is currently learning to zoom around in her wheelchair and is adapting. Even without it, she can still scoot along surprisingly fast when she wants to keep up with her friends. Despite not having the easiest start to life, Freya’s personality absolutely shines. She is incredibly sweet, loving, and full of joy. She adores people and wants to be close to her humans as much as possible. Because of this, she would do best with a family that is home often, works from home, or can bring her along for adventures. Freya gets along wonderfully with everyone she meets—kids, cats, and other dogs included. She especially loves playing with dog friends and will happily keep up with the fun. You would truly never know she has special needs with the way she keeps up and enjoys life. This smart little girl is already pee pad trained and does an excellent job using pads inside. Since she is still learning to use her wheelchair, she has not yet started going potty outside, as we want to protect her little legs from rough surfaces until she’s fully confident with her mobility equipment. Her future family should be ready to continue helping her learn and grow as she becomes more comfortable exploring the world. Freya also has a silly, adorable side—she loves car rides and gets so excited to stick her head out the window (with a little help being held up, of course!). She also loves being cuddled and carried, happily snuggling right into your arms. Freya is up to date on vaccines and will have a health certificate prior to adoption.
