About Loula
Loula ACCT-A-243240 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to length of stay and lack of space for incoming dogs. Loula must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER, or ADOPTER by Sunday, March 22nd, 2026 at 10AM. Should Loula's medical or behavioral status change, her urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Meet Loula! This sensitive and thoughtful girl is looking for a loving, patient home where she can feel safe, secure, and truly flourish. Loula has a calm, observant nature and is happiest in quiet, structured environments where she knows what to expect. She enjoys gentle walks, exploring her surroundings, and taking high-value treats-hot dogs are her absolute favorite! Loula is learning to navigate new situations with confidence and responds best to slow, respectful handling. She may need a little space at first, but once she trusts you, she shows her sweet and curious side. Due to her nervous behavior, Loula would do best in an adult-only home where she can feel comfortable and relaxed. While she can be cautious or reactive in certain situations, she just needs someone willing to provide guidance, patience, and consistency. With the right environment, she will gain confidence and blossom into the loyal, loving companion she was meant to be. If you have a calm home, a gentle heart, and the patience to let her grow at her own pace, Loula could be your perfect match-a dog who will love you deeply once she feels safe and secure. Come meet Loula and see her unique charm for yourself! She was easy to leash and walked at my side through the building and outside. While outside her eyes wide darting, ears back, and tail down. I crouched down and lightly petted down her side, she stood still and did not solicit for more. As we were walking back she was searching and kept looking towards the Main Street. When we got back to her kennel she stopped a couple inches away and needed a treat lure to go back into kennel. I tossed a treat in and she hopped right into the kennel and unleashed without issue. Per staff 2/19/26: Kennel Presentation: Loula had wide eyes, ears were to the side, closed mouth. Was sitting to the side, tossed in treats and she sniffed them. Leash Skills: Was easy to leash and came right out of kennel. Pulled lightly on leash. Tail was down, ears were back. Sociability: Outside, she was Asocial. She did not solicit attention from her handler. The handler was ablet o gently pet her back but did not continue to handler her. Tail low and unmoving, ears back, tense body. Play: n/a Dog Interaction: Met Ms Sniff through the fence. Tail was down, ears back. When sniffing Ms Sniff, her tail was mid level and gave a slight wag. Ms Sniff walked away and Loula moved away from the fence. Return to Kennel: Went right in, easy to unleash. Per staff 2/17/26: prefers hot dogs for high value treats QAR, fearful behaviour - freeze responsive Per staff 2/16/26: Approaching the kennel, Loula was alarm barking on her bed. She was avoiding eye contact, tail low and unmoving, ears were back. A treat was thrown and she would stepped off the bed to eat it and then returned to the behavior described above. Another treat was thrown and she sniffed it but did not eat it. The handler opted to not remove her from kennel and threw in some final treats to end on a positive note. Per staff 2/16/26: this dog is being started on behavior meds for FAS Per staff 2/16/26: Placed TTA in kennel slip, Loula is still extremely defensive and on-guard. She has no interest in approaching or being near you, she remains in the center of her kennel, barking, ears forward, body tense, and tail up. Per staff 2/16/26: During my morning walk through Loula was in the middle of the kennel. Wide eyes, ears back , mid to high tail and hard barking lips covering teeth. I tossed a treat and she sniffed for it then ate it. Continued to bark and remained in the middle of the kennel. Per staff 2/15/26: Barrier reactive on truck, snapping toward compartment door. Not as bad as Maia Rose but still unable to leash. Had to remove with control pole after several attempts at leashing Per staff 2/15/26: removed two stray, likely abandoned dogs from front porch of location. Caller states they have been running around area since yesterday. Per staff 2/15/26: According to caller, her dogs were in her yard and they went at the fence after them. Upon arrival to location, both dogs bluff charged at truck when attempting to exit vehicle. Waited for APOs (back up) for assistance. They bluff charged at us as well when we went to remove them. Able to get this dog on control pole and switch to leash and lift onto truck. Both dogs appear to be more reactive than aggressive. - Due to being significantly overcapacity with dogs and cats and higher than usual intake, extensions are unlikely to be granted.
