This petite Maltese mix may only weigh about 10 pounds, but her personality is big, warm, and full of joy. She has a soft, non-shedding coat and an expressive little face that seems permanently ready to greet the world with enthusiasm. Daily Life with Creamsicle Creamsicle has settled beautifully into a comfortable routine in foster care. She enjoys three walks a day — a morning outing around 7–8am, an afternoon stroll sometime between 3–5pm, and a final walk around 9–10pm before bedtime. She eats breakfast around 8am and dinner around 6pm (though she’s very flexible and happy to adapt to whatever schedule her people keep). During the day, Creamsicle is perfectly content to lounge on the couch while keeping an eye on her person. At night, she happily curls up on the bed, preferring to sleep in the same room as her human. She’s the kind of companion who simply likes being near her people. Personality Creamsicle is a cheerful, affectionate little dog who greets the world with curiosity and confidence. From the moment she arrived in her foster home, she showed how friendly and social she is. She quickly wanted to meet everyone — humans and dogs alike — and was ready to start playing right away. She’s what many people lovingly call a “velcro dog.” Creamsicle enjoys following her person from room to room and being part of whatever is going on. She absolutely loves giving kisses and will happily snuggle for a while, though she also has an independent streak and will wander off to entertain herself once she’s had her fill of cuddles. Food is definitely one of Creamsicle’s favorite things, and she’s very motivated by treats and mealtime. She’s enthusiastic enough that she might try to sneak a few bites from another dog’s bowl if given the chance — something that’s easy to manage with simple supervision. Social with Dogs Creamsicle currently lives with a small 12-pound dog and enjoys having a canine companion around. The two occasionally play together, and Creamsicle is very interested in meeting new dogs whenever the opportunity arises. She has spent time off-leash with other dogs and has been wonderfully social. She wants to greet everyone and often tries to invite play by gently placing her paws on another dog’s back to see if they’re interested. If a dog isn’t in the mood, she’s respectful and moves on. Because she enjoys canine company so much, Creamsicle would likely thrive in a home with another playful dog or with adopters who will take her on walks and outings where she can meet friends. Energy & Play Style Creamsicle has a great balance of energy. She’s playful and lively when it’s time for walks or playtime, but she’s equally happy to relax and lounge around the house. She would enjoy a family that includes her in daily activities and outings. She also enjoys toys and will happily chew on them when she’s feeling playful. Leash Skills Creamsicle is a wonderful walking companion. She walks nicely on leash without pulling and seems very comfortable exploring the neighborhood. When she sees other dogs on walks, she may go over for a friendly sniff or attempt to start a play session. House Training Creamsicle is mostly housetrained. She does well with her walking routine and also understands how to use a pee pad inside if needed. Quirks & Puppy-Like Habits Creamsicle still has a few playful, puppy-like habits that add to her charm. She enjoys chewing on toys and will sometimes grab whatever is within reach — including shoes or cords — so keeping tempting items picked up will help her make good choices. She also has an adorable habit of giving “kiss-and-nibble” affection — starting with enthusiastic kisses followed by gentle little nibbles. It’s a funny and unique way she shows love. Creamsicle may bark occasionally when people walk past the house or when there is activity outside, but overall she’s not an excessive barker. A Sweet Girl with a Story Creamsicle’s cheerful personality makes it hard to imagine the difficult start she had. When she arrived at the shelter, she had been found with her collar embedded in her neck, leaving a fresh, open wound that was so severe she couldn’t even wear a collar. Thankfully, she is now safe with DPS and receiving the care she needs. Despite everything she endured, Creamsicle remains incredibly trusting, affectionate, and joyful — greeting each new day and each new person with the same bright enthusiasm. This little dog has already proven how resilient and loving she is. Now she’s ready to leave the past behind and find the forever home she deserves.
