About Cheddar
Meet Cheddar! Please help us give a warm Pacific Northwest welcome to Cinnamon, Cheddar, and Buddy - three incredibly sweet and very lucky pups who just made the long journey north from our wonderful rescue partners in San Felipe, Mexico. After traveling miles toward a brighter future, they're now safe in Oregon, settling into loving foster homes, and getting their very first taste of the comforts of home life. Like many young rescue pups, they're still learning the basics and figuring out the world around them. With patience, positive guidance, and consistent routines, they're already blossoming. They'll thrive with families who can offer structure, encouragement, and lots of love as they continue building skills and confidence. In return, you'll get endless affection, silly antics, and the kind of loyal companionship only a rescue dog can give. Each of these sweet pups is looking for a forever home of their very own. If one has captured your heart, we'd love for you to submit an adoption application through our website to join their interest list and learn more. Could you be one of their lucky new heroes? What this pup Is looking For: What We Know & Why We Love Them (foster/volunteer/staff feedback): Foster Update 3/10/26: Update from foster for Cheddar: Cheddar is a fun, sweet dog who is ready for his furever home and will settle in easily. He is friendly with all dogs and has a great time at the dog park. He is easy to walk on leash but loves being off leash where he can run and stretch his legs. Cheddar is generally a medium to low energy dog but once or twice each day he gets a hilarious case of the zoomies. Cheddar is fully potty trained, quiet, friendly and full of love. His favorite thing is to put his paws on the person petting him as though he's hugging that person's hands in appreciation. He's smart, food motivated and doesn't resource guard. He's been really gentle with our foster puppy and willing to endure long sessions of playful bitey face to keep the puppy entertained. Cheddar had a rough time in Mexico for a while where he and a few other dogs, thought to be his puppies, faced routine coyote attacks. He has some scars and limps a little on his left front leg but to see him run and play with other dogs, you'd never guess he'd gone through so much already in his young life. Cheddar is great in the car and enjoys being around people and dogs. We haven't seen him with cats but he's gentle and doesn't seem to have a desire chase so I think he'll be fine with cats. He could happily settle into a home with other dogs or where he is the only dog. He's not destructive and we can leave him home alone with our dogs unkenneled and he just sleeps and patiently waits for us to return.
