About Wishbone
Wishbone came into rescue after narrowly escaping a high-kill shelter where breed bans put his life at risk. He’s a large, tricolor pit mix with an easy-going but confident personality and a strong sense of self. Wishbone is housebroken, crate trained, and rides beautifully in the car—making travel with him a breeze. On walks, he maintains a solid pace and stays focused with the help of a prong collar, though squirrels and birds sometimes get his attention. Wishbone plays hard and has a medium energy level; he enjoys toys and keeping himself entertained but is equally content to relax near his people. He thrives when given boundaries and structure, so an experienced owner willing to continue his training is a must. He’s smart, learns quickly, and appreciates mutual respect. While he does well with kids 10 and up, Wishbone needs to be the only dog in the home due to his rough play style and is not a match for homes with cats due to his prey drive. The rescue is offering to sponsor training sessions for his new family, ensuring he starts off on the right paw. Ready to meet a loyal, eager-to-please companion? Wishbone is in Milton, DE and waiting for just the right adopter. Make their next chapter their best one yet.

Wishbone, as a large mixed breed pit mix, does best in a home with structure and experienced owners. He thrives in environments where boundaries are clear and there’s room for both play and relaxation.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
Wishbone would benefit from a yard with a secure, at least 4-foot fence so he can run and play safely, but he doesn't require it as long as he gets daily walks and interactive play.

Wishbone can do well with older children, ideally 10 years and older, as he is strong and energetic. Proper supervision and respectful interactions are important.
