About Tanni

Click apply to start the adoption process. Meet Tanni, a large, soulful mixed breed female who is looking for a loving forever home. At about 8 years old and approximately 85 pounds, Tanni is fully housebroken and crate trained—though she'd much rather lounge on the couch than spend time in her crate! Tanni delights in car rides (just be sure to tether her, or she'll ride shotgun) and is an eager companion for walks, hikes, and adventures. She can be strong on leash, but training with a prong collar has helped, and she's responsive to treats and positive feedback. Tanni's days usually include long naps, but she comes alive with short zoomies and playful energy, especially when freed from her crate or when her favorite toys are involved. Although she doesn't need a fenced yard, she loves sunbathing outdoors and curling up in her favorite armchair indoors. She's affectionate and deeply enjoys cuddling, belly rubs, and following her people for companionship. Socially, Tanni continues to make great progress: she has done well living with other dogs after slow introductions and would thrive as the only dog or in a home with respectful canine friends. She can be dog-selective and requires some management around resource guarding in new situations. With cats, she shows curiosity and occasional chasing, so she may not be a match for a home with cats who aren’t used to dogs. Kids can stress her out, so a calm, adult home or one with older, dog-savvy children is preferred. Tanni has overcome heartworm and now only needs occasional trazodone for storms. She’s not destructive but is clever about seeking out treats (especially if left within reach!). Tanni has brought so much joy and love to her foster families, being an easy-going, affectionate companion at home and on outings. She’s ready to bring all that love and devotion to her forever family at Grass Roots Rescue in Newark, DE. What are you waiting for? Apply today!
