About Charlie
**Meet Charlie – A Sweet Senior with Plenty of Love Left** Charlie is a 15-year-old Chihuahua mix who weighs about 15 pounds and proves that age is just a number. This friendly, happy little guy is full of personality and still has a playful spark, even if he also enjoys plenty of cozy naps. Charlie is almost fully house-trained and tolerates his crate, though he would much rather sleep with his people. In his foster home, he happily curls up with his foster dad at night and naps with his foster mom during the day. He especially loves relaxing in the sunshine on a soft blanket or pillow. He enjoys spending time in the yard, chewing on a good bone, and going for walks, which he does nicely on leash. He also still gets the occasional burst of energy, complete with zoomies and playful rolling around on the floor. Charlie has done well with small female dogs but has not been exposed to male dogs or larger dogs in our care. He also hasn’t been around cats or kids yet. He may bark briefly when meeting new people, but he warms up quickly with a proper introduction. Charlie does have Lumbosacral (LS) disease and may benefit from chiropractic care, though his foster reports that he doesn’t seem to show much discomfort. He is also mostly deaf and his vision isn’t the best, but that doesn’t stop him from navigating his environment—he even figured out the doggy door mostly on his own. Like many seniors, Charlie appreciates the finer things in life and seems to have developed a fondness for treats. He’s a mellow, curious little companion who simply wants a warm place to nap, a little sunshine, and people to love. If you’re looking for a gentle senior with a sweet spirit and a surprising amount of pep, Charlie may be the perfect addition to your home. His minimum adoption fee is $200 plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents. He has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives.
