Meet Delilah - a golden girl with a brand new chapter ahead of her. At almost 13 years old, Delilah has been through more than any little dog ever should. She came to us through a large hoarding confiscation case where she and many other small breed seniors were found emaciated and living in heartbreaking conditions - covered in their own waste and clearly neglected for far too long. But despite everything, Delilah's spirit never broke. When she first came into rescue she was thin, tired, and clearly had a rough road behind her. Today, she's a completely different little lady. Delilah now has a healthy appetite, a sparkle in her eyes, and an adorable love for toys. Watching a senior dog rediscover joy like this is truly one of the best parts of rescue. Her quality of life now is something we are incredibly grateful for. What makes her story even more bittersweet is that Delilah was once a loved pet. Records show she was adopted from the county shelter about two years ago after being surrendered by her original family when they moved and "couldn't" take her along. At that time she was in wonderful condition and clearly had been cared for. What happened during those last two years is something we may never fully know - but we do know she survived it. And now we're moving forward. Delilah is returning to the sweet, confident, well-mannered little lady she truly is. She enjoys cozy beds, tasty meals, playtime with toys, and simply being near her people. At this stage of life, Delilah doesn't need much - just a peaceful home where she can feel safe, loved, and appreciated for the amazing little survivor she is.
