Luke is a 1.5-year-old Hound mix with a heart as big as his floppy ears. This sweet boy got his first taste of home life while staying with a foster family during the Texas ice storm—and he proved immediately that he was meant to be someone’s beloved companion. Now, thanks to a rescue transport, he has made the journey north to Iowa and is ready to find his forever home. Even though Luke had never lived in a house before going to his Texas foster home, he adapted like a pro. He is fully potty-trained and crate-trained, kept a perfect record in the house, and settled happily into his kennel when asked. He quickly learned the routine of family life and clearly enjoys the comfort of a home. At night, Luke started out sleeping on the floor beside his foster mom’s bed… but it didn’t take long before he discovered that cuddling up in bed was even better! He sleeps great and loves being close to his people (though he does wiggle around a bit like a happy toddler in his sleep). Luke is wonderful with other dogs and did great with the young kids in his foster home. He has a gentle, affectionate personality and truly just wants to be part of the family. He enjoys his meals, loves playing with toys, and will happily melt into a puddle for a good back rub. Like many young dogs, Luke still has some playful puppy energy. He already knows “sit” and walks nicely on a leash, which makes him a great companion for neighborhood strolls, playtime in the yard, and cozy evenings at home. Luke has already proven how adaptable, loving, and loyal he can be. Now that he’s safely in Iowa, he’s just waiting for the family who will give him the forever home he deserves.
