About Onyx

Onyx is a four-year-old German Shepherd with a tough past, having come from an Amish puppy mill where she was used as a breeder. When she first arrived, she was shut down, barely leaving her crate and terrified of people. Months in a prison training program helped her come out of her shell—she learned people can be kind, and she picked up basic obedience impressively well. Now settled in a foster home, Onyx enjoys hanging out with other dogs, running and rolling in the grass, and simply being part of daily life. She is still hesitant in new situations but has shown remarkable progress. Onyx is looking for a quiet home with a fenced yard, patient owners, and ideally another dog or two to help show her the ropes. Through everything, she’s never shown aggression—she just wants to belong. She’s spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, crate and house trained, and knows her basic commands. Onyx gets along well with other dogs and needs adopters ready to give her the time and space she needs to adjust. Your new best friend is just one click away.
