About Opal & Onyx Bonded
Opal & Onyx were trapped at an industrial park in Hagerstown, MD, along with their two kittens. The kittens thrived in foster care and have gone on to new homes, but Opal & Onyx—caught at about eight months old—were presumed wild-born, with only limited interest in people beyond meals. Originally, they were slated to stay as shop cats where they’d been surviving, but company rat poison forced a change in plan. Now, the search is for a barn home where this bonded pair can thrive together. They are incredibly sweet with each other, always seeking each other out. Both can now be handled by their caregivers, but they mostly see humans as food sources rather than companions—though they are relaxing more every day. Opal & Onyx are spayed and neutered, microchipped, ear-tipped, current on all vaccinations, dewormed, and treated for fleas. These sleek “barn panthers” are excellent mousers, ideal for a farm, stable, winery, or anywhere needing serious rodent control. If you have room for this bonded pair in your heart and barn, reach out to Community Kitties—they’ll help with relocation and long-term care. Adoption fee is waived for this pair. This could be the start of something paw-some.

Questions about Opal & Onyx Bonded
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
Domestic short hair cats like Opal & Onyx adapt well to many environments, but due to their personalities, they are especially suited for barn or working cat situations where they have space and a job to do.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
Opal & Onyx, as domestic short hairs with working cat instincts, will do best with access to a large barn, stable, or similar space where they can roam and hunt.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
Domestic short hair cats are generally adaptable, but Opal & Onyx are more independent and not particularly social with people, so they are not ideal for homes with young children seeking interaction.
