Yum Yum is a handsome young boy about 1 year old who weighs around 35 lbs. He is a sweet, friendly dog with a playful personality and a gentle heart. Yum enjoys spending time with people and loves playing with his kennel mates, making him a wonderful companion for both humans and other dogs. Yum was rescued together with his siblings and their mom from a construction site where the Mayan Train railway was being built. The family had been surviving there with the help of kind construction workers who were feeding them and contacted our partner rescue, SOS el Arca Animal Rescue. The rescue stepped in to bring them to safety, where they received veterinary care, testing, shelter, and lots of love. Yum is a happy and affectionate boy who enjoys attention and being around people. While he may need a little time to adjust to a new environment, he is eager to bond with his family and will thrive in a loving and stable home. Because he gets along so well with other dogs, Yum would do great in a home with another friendly dog to play with, though he would also be happy soaking up all the love as the only pup. He is a smart young dog who is crate trained and walks well on a leash. Yum is neutered, microchipped, fully vaccinated, dewormed, and 4DX tested. He is also on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention (Simparica). At about 35 lbs, he is a wonderful medium size that fits well in many types of homes. Yum is ready to leave shelter life behind and start the next chapter of his life with a loving family. We would love to bring him to New York on the next transport, but he will need a committed adopter or foster-to-adopt home confirmed before he can travel.
