About Toby

Toby is a 3-4 year-old, 10-pound male Chihuahua mix who recently made the trip from Mexico to the East Coast and he's an absolute love bug. Affectionate, playful, and full of personality, Toby has settled into life in Brooklyn. He's learning the rhythm of city living, practicing his leash skills on neighborhood walks, soaking up daytime cuddles, and happily curling up to sleep beside his foster brother and sister. Though still young, Toby is eager to please, listens well, and is a quick learner who will continue to thrive with consistent guidance and positive reinforcement. Toby is still building confidence on leash but takes cues from his foster siblings and improves each day. At home, he loves being near his people and canine companions, often entertaining himself (and everyone else!) with his favorite piggy toy. He has made wonderful progress with housebreaking, going both outside and on pee pads. His forever family will need to continue reinforcing the great habits he's developing. Toby does well when left alone for reasonable periods and relaxes comfortably in his bed—no crate needed. At night, he is gated with his foster sibling and sleeps soundly through the night. Toby would do best in a moderately active home that offers a healthy balance of playtime and downtime. He must be adopted into a home with another friendly dog who can be both a companion and a confident role model. He gets along beautifully with other dogs and looks to them for reassurance and guidance. He would also do well with older, respectful children. Toby has not yet been cat tested. If you're looking for a sweet, devoted little shadow who thrives with canine companionship, Toby may be your perfect match. Vaccinated for Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella. Neutered and microchipped. Tested for vector-borne illnesses. Current on flea, tick, and heart worm prevention.
