About Penny
Penny is a 1-year-old, 10-pound Chihuahua–Terrier mix with a sweet, gentle spirit and an easygoing nature. While she can be a little shy at first, she warms up quickly and becomes a devoted, loving companion. Penny is continuing to adjust beautifully to city life. She enjoys leisurely walks and is perfectly content relaxing near her people, soaking up the comfort of being close. She walks calmly on leash without pulling and is easy to handle outdoors. City sounds don't faze her, and she's impressively quiet, not a barker. The only time she gave a soft little “ruff” was when she first met cats, and after gentle correction, she settled immediately and is now totally fine around them. During her time with her foster family, Penny has been using pee pads and is currently learning to go to the bathroom outside. With continued routine and encouragement, she is making steady progress. Her forever family will simply need to continue reinforcing the good habits she's building. Penny does well when left home alone and shows no signs of separation anxiety. She's happiest when she's cozy, often found relaxing nearby with a soft blanket or favorite toy. Penny is looking for a low-key to medium-energy home that offers a balance of gentle activity and peaceful downtime. She would do well as a solo dog or in a home with another dog or cat. Due to her very small size, we recommend a home with older children or adults who can handle her gently. If you're looking for a calm, loving little companion to share your days (and your couch), Penny may be your perfect match. Vaccinated for Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella. Neutered and microchipped. Tested for vector-borne illnesses. Current on flea, tick, and heart worm prevention. To apply to foster/foster-to-adopt to adopt Penny, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for a foster application.
