Layla came to us as an owner surrender and arrived with mixed information about her behavior, which made it important for staff to take the time to properly assess her. During intake and handling, Layla proved to be comfortable with people, easy to work with, and responsive to staff. She has shown little overall interest in other dogs, though she can be selective at times, which may be influenced by the fact that she has not yet been spayed and went into heat shortly after arriving at the shelter. Layla is likely not a good fit for a home with cats, but she has not displayed the severe behaviors that were initially described. She is a strong girl who will benefit from clear structure, continued guidance, and leash support, and she deserves the chance to be known for who she truly is rather than the labels placed on her before coming into our care.
