About Dixie

Dixie is a one-year-old Lab mix who came from a tough start, having spent the first part of her life outdoors in a hoarding situation with little human contact. Now about 35 pounds with gentle eyes, she's learning what it's like to live in a home, feel safe, and enjoy simple joys—like toys, treats, and walks. Dixie moves at her own pace; she isn't immediately outgoing in new situations but seeks guidance from her person and builds trust steadily. Crate training was a breeze for her, and she's become quite good on a leash, staying close and calm. She's cat-friendly, gets along well with children and other dogs, and learns fastest when she's with another steady, social canine. For Dixie, it's essential that she be adopted with one of her familiar cousins, Bubba or Feller, to help her confidence and emotional stability as she continues adjusting to life beyond her old world. Her best fit is a calm, rural home with a securely fenced yard and people who truly understand the value of patience. She needs adopters ready to welcome both her and one of her canine cousins for a smooth transition. Dixie isn’t the type to adapt instantly, but she’ll reward your understanding and gentle approach with deep loyalty over time. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!
