About Buddy
Buddy needs a special family who can give him time, patience, and the space to adjust as he settles into life as a companion pet. He’s a big Sheltie at about 32 pounds now, with a little more weight to gain. Buddy comes across as a gentle, timid soul—especially when it’s time to put on the leash. The world feels overwhelming to him if there’s too much going on, and he needs someone familiar with helping anxious or fearful dogs build confidence through calm, reassuring leash work and slow introductions. He genuinely likes other dogs and seems to particularly enjoy hanging out with female pups. Buddy will go out to a fenced yard on his own but sometimes needs coaxing to come back inside. He loves his meals and is steadily putting on healthy weight. Currently, he’s undergoing treatment for Lyme disease and is being allowed to decompress without too many expectations. For adopters who understand that classic Sheltie anxiety and are willing to take things at his pace, Buddy’s sweet nature will blossom. They are waiting with paws crossed! Apply now!
