About Waylon

Waylon has weathered plenty in his first two years, but now that he's in rescue, things are on the upswing. When he arrived, he was so matted it was hard to believe there was a dog under all that hair—his mobility was actually limited by the mats. After a full shave and some good food, he’s beginning to put on weight and is learning life inside as a companion. His new coat is just starting to grow in, and with some professional grooming, he’ll soon have that classic teddy bear look. Waylon is about 60 pounds, energetic, and enjoys running and playing when he’s not relaxing inside. He’s fine around children, though his size and energy could be overwhelming for toddlers—he could barrel right into one with no malice. Crate training and housebreaking are going great. Leash walks are still a work in progress since he’s eager to pull. Trick training hasn’t started yet, but he’s a clean slate and ready to learn; he’ll need patience and consistency. Waylon’s new home needs an active person or family willing to commit to both ongoing training and regular grooming—brushing at home and professional visits will be part of his life moving forward. He gets along with dogs and has the temperament to be a great companion as long as you’re up for the ride. This could be the start of something paw-some.
