About Yoyo

Yoyo came in having a hard time trusting people, after being left alone for more than half the day and rarely handled. He arrived with painful mats, a cherry eye, and absolutely dreads leashes—just seeing one will send him scrambling to hide or defend himself. He allows handling when a leash isn’t involved, twirling around his people and wanting attention in his own funny way. Yoyo made it through his cherry eye repair, though drops and medical fuss tested his patience. For the long haul, he’ll probably need a little help from the vet when it comes to grooming. Yoyo looks like a Maltese/Pekingese/Shih Tzu blend and weighs in under 15 lbs, with a long white and cream coat that needs only occasional trims. He mixes well with other dogs and does best when he can follow them through a fenced yard, since walks on a leash aren’t on his list yet. He’s searching for an adult household that gets quirky little dogs and is happy to give him space and let him seek out attention when he’s ready. A fenced yard is a must for him. Yoyo isn’t yet house trained and will do best with someone patient, gentle, and understanding. Ready to meet a dog who does things his way? Lets make it official, apply to adopt!

Questions about Yoyo

  • What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?

Yoyo, a mix of Shih Tzu and Pekingese, does best in quiet, adult homes where people respect his space and routine. He's most comfortable indoors, especially in homes without a lot of chaos or young children.

  • How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?

A secure, fenced yard is best for Yoyo, given his dislike of leashes and preference for following other dogs outside. He doesn't require a large yard but needs a safe, enclosed space to explore at his own pace.

  • Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?

Yoyo is looking for an adult-only home, as his mix tends to prefer calm environments. Homes with children aren’t an ideal fit for his sensitivities.
