Poochie’s past isn’t gentle. When an accident left him hurt, pain took over, and trust disappeared in a snap. This little guy, a 14-pound Maltese/Shih Tzu mix, came to the rescue frightened, unsocialized, and limping after a dislocated hip that required surgery. He’s young—just over a year old—but recent events left him wary, especially of fast hands and unpredictable children. Since his FHO surgery, he’s begun to recover. Each day brings a bit more confidence and better use of his leg. With time and patience, he’s showing a livelier, affectionate side to those familiar faces who give him space to settle. Poochie warms up once he decides you’re trustworthy, but he needs a calm, adult-only home without kids. He gets along with other dogs and will do best with adults who respect his boundaries and help him rebuild trust on his terms.
