About Poochie
What are you waiting for? Apply today! Poochie’s story is a tough one, but it’s one that highlights just how much love and care can make a difference. After an accident left him in terrible pain with a dislocated hip, he was sadly surrendered when his discomfort caused him to become scared and reactive. Instead of being left to suffer, Poochie received immediate veterinary attention and underwent FHO surgery. This brave little Maltese/Shih Tzu mix, about 14 lbs and just over a year old, is now recovering and learning to trust again. Initially shy and fearful due to past trauma and lack of socialization, he has begun to warm up in his foster home and is showing his playful, affectionate side to those he trusts. Poochie needs a calm, adult-only home with experienced and patient adopters who can offer him the stability and kindness he craves. He’s best suited to a situation without young children. Poochie is ready for quiet meet-and-greets in Northern NJ, with all communication handled via email. He’s currently in foster care, benefiting from a loving, volunteer-run rescue that gives him the time he needs to heal and blossom. Make their next chapter their best one yet.
