About Juju

Rescued: 7/14/25 Estimated DOB: January 2024 Juju’s story begins with heartbreak. She was rescued with a collar painfully embedded in her left armpit and extra “thumb” claws severely ingrown—clear signs of prolonged neglect and discomfort. Given the trauma she endured and the lesson she learned early on that human hands did not bring comfort, it’s no surprise that Juju is on the shy side. We don’t fault her for that one bit. Still quite skittish, Juju startles easily and remains wary of most people. Trust does not come quickly for her—but it does come. While she hasn’t chosen every human as her safe person, a few patient volunteers have noticed that once Juju decides someone is trustworthy, she slowly begins to soften and let her guard down. That trust, when earned, is meaningful. One thing Juju is very clear about: she does not tolerate confinement. Being restricted causes her to regress and lose confidence, undoing hard-won progress. Because of this, she needs time, space, and autonomy to feel secure. She isn’t destined to be a permanent resident—she just needs more time, moving at a slow but steady pace, much like Bonbon did before her. We are confident that with patience, her trust and confidence will continue to grow. Juju absolutely adores other cats, finding comfort and reassurance in their presence. A calm, cat-friendly home—with another feline companion introduced gradually—would likely be ideal for her. In the right quiet environment, with humans who understand that love doesn’t always look like cuddles right away, Juju has the potential to truly thrive. She may always be a bit jumpy and flighty, but for the right person—someone who believes that trust is earned, not rushed—Juju could be just fine. And one day, she may even surprise you.
