About Mika
Click apply to start the adoption process. Meet Mika, an approximately 8-9 year old female German Shepherd/Husky mix currently seeking a loving forever home. Mika weighs around 60 lbs and is located in Sacramento, CA. She is healthy, microchipped, and up to date on her vaccinations (good through July 2028). Mika is a playful, loving, and devoted companion who thrives on affection and enjoys being part of a family. Mika is very friendly with strangers and especially adores young children—she is wonderful around them and loves to play. She also gets along well with other dogs, though she may be a little nervous during initial meetings. With time, she becomes relaxed and playful, and she interacts positively with small dogs as well. However, a home without cats is recommended, as Mika tends to chase cats who enter her yard. She is fully housetrained and has free roam of the house when alone. Mika knows several commands, including "sit," "stay," "shake," "down," "OK," and "no." She walks well on leash, pulling only slightly at the start of walks but responding quickly to gentle corrections. Off-leash recall in enclosed areas is good, though it still needs some work in open spaces. Mika enjoys car rides, is a calm passenger, and has a special fondness for stuffed toys and playing fetch with treat-dispensing balls. Mika’s story is inspiring—she was rescued after being found underweight and ill, but with much care, she made a full recovery. Due to her rescuer’s medical situation and recent changes at home, Mika now urgently needs a new loving family who can give her the regular exercise and attention she deserves. Think you are the one?
