About Riley

They are waiting with paws crossed! Apply now! Riley is a spirited and affectionate German Shepherd Dog located in South Sacramento, looking for a more enriching life after years of being an only dog with limited socialization. Energetic, highly intelligent, and always on alert, Riley embodies the classic traits of a working-line GSD, making her an excellent candidate for agility or other active pursuits. She adores riding in cars, loves to play with water streams, and, when given attention, is eager for affection—sometimes jumping up excitedly when she meets people. Riley has lived harmoniously with children (ages 7 and 9) and is unfailingly friendly with people of all ages. While she hasn’t had much canine socialization, she did show positive interactions with confident large male dogs while at a rescue ranch, though she can be reactive on walks. Riley should be the only dog or paired only with a confident large male, and her new home must be without cats. Having spent almost all her life outside in a kennel, she is acclimating quickly to indoor environments and should become house trained with just a little patience and guidance. Riley’s adopter will need to help her channel her energy and provide ample enrichment and companionship to make up for lost time. There is no adoption fee, but Riley’s adopter must provide a $500 refundable deposit, which will be returned after she is spayed within 90 days of adoption. Contact information for Sabrina, who is assisting with her placement, is listed below the profile. Make their next chapter their best one yet.
