About Avery

Avery is a small, 75% Miniature Pinscher and 25% Chihuahua mix who came into rescue with her littermates after being surrendered by their owner/breeder. She needs a securely fenced yard for potty breaks, as she is not leash trained and cannot use a doggie door. Her energy and curiosity suit her small size, but safety comes first—no exceptions for the backyard setup. Avery has been thoroughly vetted: vaccinated, dewormed, treated for fleas, spayed, microchipped, and is heartworm negative and on ongoing monthly prevention. Her short docked tail and compact build are thanks to her parents' mixed heritage, making her even smaller than a typical Min Pin. Avery gets along well with other dogs and would do best with patient adopters ready to help her adjust and continue her training. She currently lives in Houston, TX and must be met in person for adoption. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!

Questions about Avery

  • What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?

Avery, as a Miniature Pinscher/Chihuahua mix, usually does best in homes where she can enjoy a secure indoor environment and access to a properly fenced yard. Her size makes her adaptable to apartments or houses, but her safety outdoors must be carefully considered.

  • How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?

Avery's breed mix does not require a huge yard, but she needs a securely fenced outdoor area for safe potty breaks and to get her energy out. Letting her roam loose is not safe, so the focus is on a contained space.

  • Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?

Miniature Pinscher and Chihuahua mixes like Avery are generally good with respectful children, especially when socialized properly. Supervised interaction and care around smaller kids is advised due to her small size.
