About Gia
Every animal deserves a happy ending. This one starts with you. Gia is a wonderful female German Shepherd around 7.5 years old with a big heart and lots of loyalty. Previously kept as a backyard dog, Gia is working on overcoming some barrier reactivity after being surrendered to the shelter. Despite her rocky start, she has shown herself to be a very sweet and affectionate companion who loves attention, especially those irresistible butt scratches. Gia truly enjoys the company of trusted humans and thrives when her social circle expands, showing affection and friendliness with all the volunteers she has met. With other dogs, Gia is appropriate and sociable, although she is more of a calm observer than a playful romping buddy. Her foster home reports Gia is well-mannered but can get vocal and excited around crates and fences, though she settles quickly with gentle redirection. She hasn’t had much experience with children or cats thus far. Gia’s ideal home would be with an experienced adopter willing to continue working on her social skills and provide the patient, loving environment she deserves. They are ready to love you; are you ready to apply?
