Sammy is a long-legged, lively German Shepherd, somewhere around a year old. He landed at the shelter as a stray, so not much is known about his early days. What’s obvious now is that Sammy is all boundless energy, goofiness, and overgrown puppy charm. He’s a true social butterfly, soaking up every ounce of attention people offer—children included. He’s spent time around kids ages 7 and up and adores them, though his size and wild enthusiasm mean he does best with kids already comfortable around large dogs. With other dogs, Sammy’s still learning the ropes. Greetings are typically a bit much—think body slams over handshakes—but with patient canine mentors, he’s starting to figure out the finer points of dog communication. He’d thrive with another playful dog in the home, as long as introductions are slow and supervised. Sammy loves to run in a yard or tag along for a hike, and he’d really benefit from a family ready to put in some training time and help him channel that young Shepherd energy.
