Rosie is a senior spayed female Dachshund in Brainerd, MN, nearly 12 years old, with a short red and white coat. She’s house trained and in excellent health thanks to thorough veterinary care. Rosie gets along well with children, but she requires a home with no other pets due to her selective temperament and food aggression toward animals. She’s used to regular outdoor breaks and is eager to join a family that can provide her with companionship most of the day.

About Rosie

Rosie is an almost ten-year-old purebred red piebald dachshund, unmistakable for her striking blue eyes and soft, short coat brushed in red and white. After spending her life with one family, she’s learning to adjust to a new setting since they had to move and couldn't bring her along. Rosie’s health is excellent—a tumor was removed last year, and she had a strong record of veterinary care for eight years. She’s spayed, will be microchipped before adoption, and is just overdue for her next round of vaccines. Rosie gets along with children wonderfully and bonds deeply with her humans. She lived with other small dogs before but, in her foster home, she’s shown she prefers to be the only dog. She can be food aggressive with other animals and cannot be around small pets like rabbits or rodents. She needs to be fed separately and placed in a pet-free home for her own comfort and safety. Rosie is house trained but needs regular outdoor breaks to avoid accidents—it helps if someone can be with her most of the day. She’s comfortable with potty pads at night and when alone, but her foster home has worked hard to encourage outdoor potty habits. Rosie does well on leash and enjoys walks, although she’ll howl or cry if left alone for long. Folks who work from home, bring their dogs along to work, or have someone available for Rosie most of the time will suit her best. Her original family hopes to stay in touch with whoever adopts her. If your household matches Rosie's gentle, people-focused needs, she’s ready to meet you. Adoption will be to an approved home committed to meeting her requirements. Make their next chapter their best one yet.
