About Lucita
Meet Lucita, also affectionately known as Lucy, Lucy Lou, or Potato. After making her journey from Mexico to Minnesota last March, she’s adjusted to life in foster care. Lucita is a sturdy, 27-pound adult Dachshund mix with a unique habit—she prefers spinning to walking straight. The more relaxed and comfortable she feels, the less she spins, so a calm home will help her settle in. She gravitates toward people over other animals, though she peacefully co-exists with dogs and cats. If you have other animals, she’ll fit in but likely won’t become their best playmate. Lucita tends to “mommy” boisterous pups, putting on her fun police hat if play gets rowdy. One of her quirks is a pronounced underbite. Dental work meant losing 17 teeth, but she eats kibble and treats just fine—and is always up for a meal, wet food or dry. Lucita’s happy to snuggle on the couch or bed and will join you for walks. She’s semi-potty trained: keep her on a routine, and accidents are rare; with focus, she’ll get there. She settles quietly in her kennel, does well in the car, and excels at making her needs known with a soulful stare and a little whine. When it’s playtime, she gets spunky—hopping and pouncing on toys, with a tendency to get mouthy. Since she has no front teeth, she mostly “gums” you, but older children are recommended just to be safe. Lucita is ready for a home where a gentle, food-loving, people-oriented companion fits right in. Click apply and let the tail-wagging begin!
