About Rex

Rex is a Husky and Terrier mix who came to the rescue as a young pup with deep-seated separation anxiety and no training, but the team at ODAAT saw something in him. Completely deaf, he didn't let that hold him back: Rex worked hard in a special prison training program, picking up both core and unique commands. He now understands a lot and is much more confident, though he still looks to his people for guidance and reassurance. Rex has a protective nature and doesn't want to be a social butterfly or meet new people all the time, but he is deeply devoted to whoever earns his trust. Because of the way he navigates the world without hearing, he relies heavily on canine companions for social cues—adopters with another dog will give Rex his best chance to thrive. He gets along well with other dogs, but cats are not a fit, and homes with older kids only. If you're hoping for a loyal companion and understand the challenges of separation anxiety and deafness, Rex could be your guy. There's even the option to adopt him with one (or more) of his best rescue buddies if you're feeling adventurous. They are ready to love you; are you ready to apply?
