Mia came to us as a transfer from a Southwest Virginia shelter, and it was clear she had been through a tough time. She arrived skinny and starved, which has led her to be a bit possessive over her food when other dogs are around. Feeding Mia separately from other pets is all it takes to make sure mealtime is stress-free. She is not food-aggressive with humans, and you can easily take her bowl away without any issues. This affectionate girl is a pro at sitting on command, especially when there are treats involved! Please give us a few days to review your application. If approved, you’ll receive an email from adoptions@hoovesandpaws.org to schedule a meet and greet (including any necessary dog-to-dog introductions). If the meet and greet goes well and you’d like to move forward, we’ll schedule a home check—this means we’ll bring your new furry friend to your home ourselves.
