About Paco
Paco is a 3-year-old Chihuahua/Pit Bull Terrier mix who weighs around 50 lbs and is available for meet and greets after 5/26 in Orange, VA. He didn’t come into the shelter trusting or outgoing—instead, he hid behind his mother, Cali, and was overwhelmed by the bustling environment. The team took things slow, letting him decide when to approach, and watched him eventually warm up once he saw his mom trusting people. Over time, Paco’s true nature started to shine through. He now thrives on belly rubs, leans against people he trusts, and surprises everyone with how gentle and sweet he is beneath his worries. Transitions still take patience, but he’s clean in his kennel and appears housebroken. Paco used to live with small children and has learned to keep his space tidy. He’s still getting used to leash walks; the shelter is loud, so yard time is more his style as he gains confidence. He’s currently being treated for Lyme disease, Ehrlichia, and Anaplasmosis. While he’s not required to go home with Cali, they are a very close pair—she’s clearly his security blanket, and it would be wonderful if they could stay together. Paco is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and ready for the right home to help him settle in. Interested in other dogs, but proper introductions are key. His cat experience is unknown. They are waiting with paws crossed! Apply now!
