About Leo
Leo is a 4-year-old, extra-large mix of German Shepherd and Belgian Malinois. He weighs around 85 lbs after shedding 20 lbs since arriving at the rescue. Neutered and up to date on vaccinations, Leo is friendly, protective, and incredibly active. He's social with visitors at the rescue and enjoys positive introductions to people, though he can act protectively in the home if not properly introduced. Outside the house, he generally does well with strangers and greets visitors warmly at the rescue. Leo has experience with young children and handles their company well, though his size and excitement can sometimes cause him to accidentally bump or knock over little ones. He's been good with other dogs, including small breeds, especially now that he’s benefited from consistent canine socialization at the rescue. Leash reactivity has improved, but he’s a strong, powerful dog who needs an adopter capable of managing and continuing his training if he gets reactive on walks. Leo has shown curiosity around cats but hasn’t lived with them long-term, so careful introductions are a must. He’s house trained and calm indoors, and can be left alone for a few hours at a stretch—longer if given bathroom breaks. Leo enjoys sleeping on a bed, loves car rides, and thrives on fetch, happily chasing balls for as long as you'll toss them. He needs an active home willing to give him frequent exercise and play time. Leo isn’t drawn to water but makes up for it with his athleticism, smarts, and affectionate nature. He’s currently in Pleasant Grove, CA, and is looking for a committed adopter ready to give him both structure and love. What are you waiting for? Apply today!
