Meet Rowan! ? (currently in foster care) Rowan is a 2-year-old, 65 lb Akita with a heart as big as his paws. This sweet boy just wants to be close to his people—snuggled up at your side, soaking in all the love he can get. He’s perfectly content relaxing in the yard and doesn’t require a lot of activity to stay happy, though he does enjoy adventure walks, squeaky toys, belly rubs, and anything food-related! Rowan is eager to please and easy to train, making him a wonderful companion for someone who appreciates his loyal and affectionate nature. Like most Akitas, he’s a natural guardian—deeply devoted and protective once he bonds with his people. Because of this, Rowan would do best in a home without small children, as young kids seem to make him nervous and he has barked at some while out walking. Rowan has done well with other dogs in our care, and for the most part is fairly aloof and prefers his people. He would be fine as an only dog, or well suited with another calm dog in the home, ideally female. Rowan has a prey drive and will need a home without cats.
