About Petey

Petey and his siblings arrived at the rescue as frightened, skinny pups straight out of a rough hoarding situation in early October. At about five weeks old, he weighed only 4 pounds. Ever since, Petey has been soaking up steady care and he’s really grown into a lively, cheerful pup. He thrives on routine, loves to play with small toys—often carrying them from room to room—and happily snoozes through the night in his crate. Petey absolutely lives for open space and needs a home with a fenced yard where he can run at full speed. Because he’s so quick and energetic, he isn’t the right fit for a household with young kids. This sweet, golden-white boy is happiest when he’s given both patience and space to blossom. What are you waiting for? Apply today!

Questions about Petey

  • What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?

Petey, as a Chihuahua/Dachshund mix, typically does well in homes where his energy can be managed—a secure, active household works best. Apartment life can suit him if he gets enough exercise, but a house with a yard lets him thrive.

  • How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?

Chihuahua/Dachshund mixes like Petey do best with access to a safely fenced yard for regular play and running, especially since he loves sprinting around. Daily walks and time outdoors fit his energetic nature.

  • Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?

Petey’s breed mix is often affectionate but, due to his speed and energy, he isn’t ideal for homes with young children. He’s better suited for families with older, dog-savvy kids or adults.
