Oreo is a male young Corgi, considered a medium-sized dog, currently in the care of Colorado Corgis and Friends. He is neutered and has a characteristically fluffy coat that requires extra grooming. Oreo gets along well with other dogs that are playful and similar in size, and he's best suited to an active home with a securely fenced yard. His previous experience and temperament make him a great fit for those familiar with herding breeds, and he would do well in a household with older children.

About Oreo

Surrendered because his previous family had too many dogs, Oreo is an almost 2-year-old Corgi weighing about 35 pounds. He’s a good boy searching for an active home that has another playful and tolerant dog about his size. Oreo can be fearful of bigger dogs and gets overstimulated easily, so a calm companion is ideal. Oreo walks well on a leash and thrives with daily long walks, mentally stimulating play, and adventures such as weekend hikes. A working or sporty home would be a dream for him. He’d greatly benefit from a basic manners class, where he’ll get to bond with you and showcase his intelligence. Oreo is still learning where it’s appropriate to mark indoors and will need patient guidance and frequent outdoor breaks while he adjusts. He wears a belly band at night and is almost always dry in the morning, and he’s comfortable sleeping on a dog bed. While he tolerates a kennel for short times, he doesn’t love it, so he'd do best with someone home during the day. Oreo’s fluffy coat will require above-average grooming, and his herding tendencies mean he’s not recommended for homes with cats. He gets nervous with sudden movements and unfamiliar hands, so he’s best suited for adults or families with children aged 12 and up. Apartments aren’t a good fit—he requires a spacious, securely fenced yard plus daily exercise to stay healthy. Oreo can be mouthy and shy at first, but with patience and time, he becomes affectionate and cuddly. Previous herding breed experience is preferred, as he isn't ideal for a first-time dog owner. Once Oreo settles in, he’ll happily be reminded he’s a good boy as often as possible! Meet and greets require an application, home and reference check, and meetings with all household members. Oreo is neutered, microchipped, up-to-date on vaccinations, heartworm negative, and available for adoption in Colorado only. What are you waiting for? Apply today!
