Kahlua
AvailableKahlua is a small, brown and tricolor mixed breed with a short coat. He’s about a year old and gets along well with other dogs. He’s neutered and his vaccinations are up to date. Kahlua is currently in Phoenix, AZ, and is looking for an adult-only home where he can continue to grow and gain confidence.
About Kahlua
Meet Kahlua, a one-year-old who’s had a tough start but keeps surprising everyone with his resilience. He came to rescue after being abandoned with four other dogs, and while he’s made real progress learning to trust, he still needs someone patient to help him fully settle in. Kahlua isn’t immediately warm to new people—he’ll bark, avoid, and, if pushed too quickly, may nip. Because of this, he belongs in an adult-only home. Interestingly, he warms up more easily to women, showing affectionate, goofy bursts once he’s comfortable. He loves zooming to trusted people for quick kisses and then racing around with his dog friends. In foster, he bonded with his foster mom, discovering the fun of toys and even admiring himself in every mirror. He’s puppyish, playful, and social with dogs, but struggles with routine changes and is still working on potty and leash training. He’ll need someone who understands he isn’t a finished product—it’ll take trust, time, and some patience, but the reward is seeing his true, fun-loving personality shine through. Questions about Kahlua
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
Kahlua, as a Chihuahua/Miniature Pinscher mix, does best in a stable, patient environment. Apartment living works well as he is small, but he needs someone willing to invest time in socialization.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
Kahlua’s mixed breed is comfortable with limited outdoor space, though a secure yard or regular walks help him burn off energy. A small yard or daily access to safe outdoor areas suits him well.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
Chihuahua and Miniature Pinscher mixes like Kahlua can be sensitive, and in his case, he is not a match for homes with children. An adult-only environment is required for his comfort and safety.
