About Wiley
Click apply and let the tail-wagging begin! Meet Wiley! Wiley is named for his clever ability to avoid humans when he was roaming the streets. Let’s talk about this shy sweetheart: Wiley is an approximately five-year-old Chihuahua mix (with a strong influence from other breeds), weighing around 17 pounds. He’s initially quite nervous and tends to avoid new people, but after some time in a foster home, he’s shown how gentle and loving he can be with patience and kindness. His foster mom says Wiley loves cuddling up in blankets and will curl close for some cozy time in bed. Wiley thrives best in a quiet home without children, alongside at least one other dog who can help him gain confidence. He loves having a routine and really shines as part of a canine pack! Wiley needs a house (not an apartment) with a secure, grassy yard—he has a special paw and needs a soft surface to avoid injury. You’ll often find him sunbathing outside, and despite his "bum" leg, Wiley can move pretty quickly when he wants to! Wiley’s past is inspiring: he was humanely trapped after a period as a stray, proving just how resourceful he is. Chi Town Rescue stepped up to help, and he’s since had a leg injury evaluated by specialists. The injury is old and healed incorrectly, resulting in possible nerve damage. Surgery isn’t recommended, so his leg will remain as it is unless it begins to cause him discomfort—in which case future treatment, possibly including amputation, may be necessary. His future family must be willing to provide medical care if his needs change. Wiley is neutered, has a microchip, and is current on vaccines. A home check is required before adoption, and Wiley’s foster mom is happy to set up a meet and greet. He would love to find his safe and loving forever home! Make their next chapter their best one yet.
