About Katy

Katy is one of a litter of 19 puppies rescued from a ranch in Central Texas, all born in the pasture to working livestock guardian mothers. With a mix of Akbash and Great Pyrenees in her background, Katy has a solid white coat, just like her sisters, and likely inherited both the strength and calm typical of these breeds. Her exact parentage is a mix, but she’s been raised as a family pet from a very young age and will not be suitable as a working livestock guardian. Katy has begun crate training and will need ongoing patience and effort as she continues to learn house and leash manners. She’s had her first rounds of vaccinations and will receive her rabies shot soon; a spay agreement is required for her adoption, per Texas law. Katy gets along well with other dogs and has been named after Katy Falls in Arkansas, in keeping with the litter’s waterfall theme.
