Chaquita is a young, large mixed breed puppy with Akbash and Great Pyrenees heritage. She is a female who has been spayed and is currently in Whitewright, TX. She enjoys the company of other dogs and is already working on becoming house trained. Vaccinations are started and up to date for her age, but she will need to complete her course soon. Her coat is solid white, following the classic look of her likely parent breeds. Adoption will require a commitment to continue her training and follow through with all medical requirements.

About Chaquita

Chaquita is one of 17 puppies rescued this year from a Central Texas ranch. Her early life was spent in a pasture with a pack of livestock guardian dogs, but she and her sisters were found huddled together without their mom nearby. The adult dogs on the ranch include Akbash, Great Pyrenees, and Anatolian Shepherds, so Chaquita is likely a blend of Akbash and Great Pyrenees considering her solid white coat and her siblings' appearances. She was moved indoors young and has been raised as a family companion, not as a working livestock dog. Chaquita has started crate training but still needs guidance with house and leash training, so patience and consistency from her adopter are a must. She has received her first two rounds of vaccines and will soon be ready for her rabies shot. Adopters must agree to have her spayed, in compliance with Texas law, before her adoption can be finalized. Chaquita gets along well with other dogs and has a calm, gentle streak. Her name—and those of her sisters—are inspired by waterfalls; Chaquita Falls is in Hill Country State Natural Area in Bandera, TX. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!
