About Fargofarley
Fargofarley, known as Fargo or Farley, has the goofy streak and resilience of his namesake, the late Chris Farley. When he first arrived, he was extremely overweight, struggling to move and play. With good food and steady exercise, heās finally slimmed down, grown stronger, and now relishes every fetch session with a chuck-itāheād chase a ball until sunset if you let him. Farley is closing in on 3 years old, fitting the so-called "COVID shepherd" mold: a big-hearted dog with a scattered past. Heās bounced through at least six owners, drifting from Texas all the way to Maine. Off leash, heās eager and social with other dogs (he even lives at doggy daycare), but walks can still bring out leash-based nerves and reactivity. Heās working hard on this and making real progress. He meets people with openness and has done great around cats. Thereās no clear history with children, but given his gentle nature and spirit, a thoughtful family home could be a good fit. Farley has scars from prior abuse, especially around quick movements and new men, so he might take a little quiet time and understanding to fully settle in. He never reacts aggressivelyājust the opposite, heāll cower and hide if he gets nervous. His dream home includes patient humans willing to keep up his leash-manners work (with support from Shannon, a certified trainer, offered at no cost), or just the willingness to go slow as he grows into his next chapter. Heās come a long way from the dog he once was. This boy is looking for someone ready to show him what stability feels like. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!
