Ripley is a beautiful black Chow Chow/Pit Bull-type mix, approximately 9–10 months old and 40–45 lbs. Her story started out frighteningly. Ripley and her sister Zelda were just 3–4-month-old puppies when they were attacked by coyotes. Thankfully, both girls survived and were rescued. After a lengthy quarantine and recovery, they are now healthy, spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and ready to find families of their own. Ripley has been raised around other dogs, cats, and older children. She is food motivated and responds well to positive reinforcement, but she will benefit from a dog-experienced home that can provide continued structure, consistency, and guidance as she matures. Ripley can be nervous around other female dogs and may display some dominance-related behaviors, so her ideal home would be as an only dog or with one or two easygoing male dogs who are a good match for her. A calm, predictable household with older teenagers (ideally 12–14+) or adults would be best. Ripley is still young and has plenty of learning ahead of her. She needs a family willing to continue working on manners, confidence, and everyday life skills while giving her the time and patience to settle into a new home.
