At 8 years old and 8lbs, Macy is proof that age is just a number and good things come in tiny packages. This little poodle has plenty of life left in her and is not interested in slowing down anytime soon! Macy is the best of both worlds. She can be a total lapdog, happily hanging out with her humans, but she also LOVES to play. We're talking zoomies, fetch, playing tag, and even keeping up with you on a run. She is friendly, affectionate, confident, and just a little sassy. Basically, she's got a big personality packed into 8 pounds. Macy is wonderful with people and has been especially sweet with her foster's 21-month-old daughter. She absolutely adores her! She's also totally fine with cats and has been exposed to all sorts of animals, including birds. When it comes to other dogs, Macy has some preferences. She does best with small dogs and neutral dogs who aren't looking to challenge her. She can be reactive toward larger dogs, although her foster has worked with her on this, and she has made great progress learning to tolerate them. She would do best with an adopter who understands dog introductions and is willing to continue working on her social skills. Macy is completely house trained, has great recall, and is an absolute angel in her crate. She has no separation anxiety and does well both crated and free roaming when her humans leave. She sleeps in her crate at night but would probably be perfectly happy snuggling up in bed with you, too. On leash, Macy is still working on her manners and can be a bit of a puller, but she has no leash reactivity. In the car, she tends to get a little bouncy, so her foster prefers to have her crated or safely secured. Macy would love an active home that understands that an 8-year-old Poodle can still have plenty of pep in her step! She would thrive with someone who enjoys daily walks, outdoor adventures, interactive play, and including their dog in everyday life. She needs a family who will give her both the exercise and mental stimulation she loves, along with plenty of opportunities to be a couch potato. Poodle experience is a plus, but not required. Regular grooming and continued training are a must! Medical: Macy came to us with a ruptured CCL tear. She saw our orthopedic surgeon and got all fixed up. She is currently on crate rest and will be able to go to her forever home in December. However, we work with trusted transport partners to transport our dogs to over 30 cities in the United States. Additionally, adopters are always encouraged to come to Houston to pick up their pup and bring them home. Once an adoption is confirmed, our team will work with you to determine the best transport schedule. Her transport fee is included in the adoption fee.
