About Cortland

Cortland A188831 65 lb. neutered male, approx 3 years old -This sweet boy may need a little time to warm up, but he's absolutely worth it! He started out a bit cautious and unsure, taking some time to get comfortable. He explored the yard before eventually coming over to check me out. I offered a few pets and let him decide what he wanted next. He stuck around and leaned in for more. As we spent more time together, he continued to relax, and soon there were tail wags and even kisses! -He walks nicely on leash with a slow, steady pace and no pulling. He enjoys treats, although he can be a little selective, and eventually offered a sit. He takes snacks very gently. He was curious about toys but wasn't quite ready to play. -He may not be the type to climb into your lap--yet--but he does enjoy staying close for affection and attention. He's a gentle, easygoing boy who just needs a little time to feel comfortable. A lovely, lower-energy companion! -Seems non reactive to dogs nearby and may do well living with a fur sibling after slow and proper intros Unknown behavior with dogs/cats/kids *Meet all of our adoptable pets on our website friendsofdacc.org/adopt *Please keep in mind that the shelter can be a very stressful environment. *Studies show that a minimum of 3 days decompression drastically lower stress hormones and allow the dog to show more personality after they have settled in. *There is a suggested donation of $100 for our dogs, payable by cash, check or through paypal at the time of the adoption. *To meet them please go to front door and a DACC staff member will assist you with adoption or fostering. **And when coming to meet one of our dogs, please bring all the humans with you, but leave any current dogs at home. Staff will go over how to slowly and properly introduce them after a decompression period.** *The shelter is open 7 days a week from 10:30-5:30, except for Wednesday when we open at 11:30 **We ask that if you're looking to adopt, you arrive before 5:00 to be able to have enough time to meet the dog. **1431 E Ferry St. Detroit
