AvailableAbout Vanessa Upson
Vanessa Upson A188432 65 lb. spayed female, approx 2 years old -She walks pretty well on leash with just a little pulling. We started out in the yard, where she spent a few minutes happily wandering and exploring. She seemed fairly relaxed until a couple of trucks passed by and their loud air brakes startled her. She quickly sought comfort by crawling underneath my legs and trembling, so we headed inside. -She was a little anxious indoors and paced some, but she enjoys affection and loves leaning her whole body into you for pets. She'll take treats from the floor but isn't quite comfortable taking them from your hand yet. She also doesn't seem to know "sit," but that's okay! -I caught glimpses of a playful girl trying to peek through her nerves. Before the trucks startled her, she was doing little zoomies and pawing at me, and even inside, there were moments when she seemed ready to break into play but couldn't quite get past her worries. She isn't interested in toys just yet, but I suspect that playful side will come out more as she settles in. -This girl will need a little time, patience, and a quieter environment to help her feel safe and let her personality shine. -Seems non reactive to dogs nearby and may do well living with a fur sibling after slow and proper intros Unknown behavior with dogs/cats/kids *Meet all of our adoptable pets on our website friendsofdacc.org/adopt *Please keep in mind that the shelter can be a very stressful environment. *Studies show that a minimum of 3 days decompression drastically lower stress hormones and allow the dog to show more personality after they have settled in. *There is a suggested donation of $100 for our dogs, payable by cash, check or through paypal at the time of the adoption. *To meet them please go to front door and a DACC staff member will assist you with adoption or fostering. **And when coming to meet one of our dogs, please bring all the humans with you, but leave any current dogs at home. Staff will go over how to slowly and properly introduce them after a decompression period.** *The shelter is open 7 days a week from 10:30-5:30, except for Wednesday when we open at 11:30 **We ask that if you're looking to adopt, you arrive before 5:00 to be able to have enough time to meet the dog. **1431 E Ferry St. Detroit
