About Archie
Meet Archie, a delightful 6-year-old male Great Pyrenees mix, although the shelter believes he may have some St. Bernard in him too. Currently, he's a bit underweight at 75 lbs, with a target weight closer to 90 lbs. His fluffy coat does a good job of hiding his slender frame. Archie is a friendly and affectionate companion who thrives in human company. He enjoys leisurely strolls and loves joining you for outdoor meals, sitting calmly without pulling on the leash. While he hasnβt spent much time around kids, he shows an interest in them, happily observing their antics from a distance. Heβs quite the intelligent dog, already knowing commands like 'sit', 'stay', and 'shake'. He approaches treats gently and is a curious explorer, always eager to sniff out new scents in his foster home. Overall, he's a calm presence β barking rarely and content to lounge in the backyard. Archie has shown some alpha behavior with other male dogs, so he would likely do best with a female or a more submissive companion. He isnβt great with cats and struggles with separation anxiety, but he does better with another dog around. Notably, he prefers to avoid the crate and can get anxious when confined, yet he lays down in it willingly if left open. He is potty trained and well-mannered overnight. Archie is neutered and ready to find a loving home where he can enjoy a stable, consistent life. He is currently being fostered in Garland, TX, but the rescue is happy to assist with out-of-state adoption. Ready to make a difference? Click apply to start the adoption process.
