Perla came into ACC as an owner surrender. She was surrendered due to her previous owners moving and being unable to take her with them. She came in with her mother. Her previous owner says that Perla is friendly and outgoing with dogs. During her time in the care center she has been observed to be defensive. She was observed to bare teeth upon approach while she was in the kennel and to growl during medical exam and intake. We recommend placement with a New Hope partner who can provide any necessary behavior modification (force-free, positive reinforcement-based) and re-evaluate behavior in a stable home environment before placement into a permanent home.
